OUR TOOLKIT

We’ve been developing the Well Engineering Toolkit to automate as much of well planning process as possible using a single data source. The toolkit eliminates data duplication, a common issue in many workflows, thereby reducing the potential for human errors. By implementing this system, we have been able to maximise productivity, ensured consistency in well documentation, and expedited delivery of our work within shorter timelines.
With critical well information entered, the toolkit currently generates fully automated well construction and barrier schematics, including proposed P&A designs. Further developments are underway to expand its capabilities, ensuring solutions are tailored to meet specific client requirements and enhance efficiency across the well engineering lifecycle.
Dynamic Well Diagram
The functionality of the digital tool starts by gathering information about critical well components. This process enables automation of the toolkit across all its modules. This information is then used to create dynamic well diagrams. Critical well components can be listed as follows:
- Subsurface data – Formation properties, sealing capabilities, and abandonment requirements
- Well architecture – Casing, tubing, and barrier placements
- Critical depths, including drilled and casing depths, mud types and weights used during construction, annular cement tops
- Designation of well components, including primary and secondary barriers
- Regulatory and operational constraints – Ensures compliance with industry standards and asset-specific guidelines
Key features of the tool can be listed as:
- In order to further improve our efficiency in delivering well planning studies and programs, the toolkit has been enabled to automatically produce drawings for relevant well status.
- This minimises the time required for manual manipulation the positions of well components
- Most importantly, entered data will be used for further well-related calculations, eliminating errors that could arise during repetitive data gathering processes
- SCHEMATIC
- Produces a standardised well schematic for each selected status of the well
- P&A DESIGN
- Once all the required data has been collected, the toolkit can be used to project structured and compliant well abandonment designs.
- BARRIER DRAWINGS
- Instant production of barrier drawings for each phase of the well, including drilling, shut-in, plugged and abandoned
